Derby is limited to the first 150 derby tickets purchased. Fishing is allowed in the open areas of Marine areas 9 and 10 only. All contestants must fish in accordance with the current WDFW Fishing Regulations. Everyone aboard the boat must have a derby ticket.

Derby is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 2026 and is from dawn to 2:00 p.m. sharp. All Participants must arrive at the weigh in location via water to qualify for weigh in and prizes. Each contestant will weigh in only 1 fish. There will be no upgrading of fish. Your first fish weighed in will be your entry. Weigh station will be at the Port of Kingston stage area at Mike Wallace Park All Derby fish must be whole! No cleaning and/or bleeding required. NOTE: The Port of Kingston does not allow any fish cleaning within the breakwater.

  • The Kingston Coho Derby takes place annually in September in Kingston, Washington. Anglers fish the surrounding waters of Puget Sound, with check-in and weigh-ins held at Mike Wallace Park.

  • The derby is open to anglers of all experience levels. Whether you're a seasoned fisherman or trying your luck for the first time, everyone is welcome to join the fun.

  • All fish must be legally caught in accordance with Washington State fishing regulations during derby hours. Participants must bring their catch to the official weigh-in station within the designated timeframe to be eligible for prizes. Only 1 fish per angler is eligible for weigh-in.

  • Prizes are awarded for several of the largest Coho salmon, along with a prize for mystery fish. Awards include cash prizes and infinite bragging rights.

  • Yes, you can join us in the grassy areas of Mike Wallace Park, on the waterfront of Kingston’s Appletree Cove. Mike Wallace Park is walking distance to the excellent coffee shops, restaurants, and stores of downtown Kingston.
