The Kingston Coho Derby is presented by the Greater Kingston Kiwanis. Kingston Kiwanis is dedicated to serving the community by providing services to aid children and teens throughout the Greater Kingston area.
The Kingston Coho Derby began as a small, community-driven fishing competition in the waters off Kingston, Washington, created to celebrate the annual return of coho salmon and bring local anglers together. What started as a modest event in 2022 has grown steadily over the years, drawing participants from across the region who share a passion for fishing and a love for the Pacific Northwest’s maritime culture.
Today, the derby is a beloved September Saturday full of fun, featuring weigh-ins, prizes, and a festive atmosphere that extends beyond the docks to local businesses and spectators. It remains rooted in its original spirit: friendly competition, community pride, and a deep appreciation for the seasonal coho run.
